I’ve always had a creative side and experimented in various art forms but never really thought of myself as an artist, however since retiring as BCIT’s special events coordinator in 2010 and beginning this next chapter of my life I have had time to explore the world of mixed-media and art journaling – it’s become a passion.

I enjoy creating collages – layering ephemera, textures, paint and lots of colour. I also take my handmade collages, drawings and paintings and scan them and then create digital collages in Photoshop Elements for a totally different look.

I created my blog so that I could record my journey in the art world and post some of my work. My dream is to create art that relays affirmations for kindness, living from the heart, the power of positive thoughts and to believe that there is magic in your dreams. Each day is a new creative adventure and I am excited to see where the road leads me and who knows along the way I may inspire others to discover their artistic side as well.

    Hi Michelle
I’d love to introduce you as a “creative” Late Bloomer. Here are a few things I ask that you send to me. Write an article (approx 3 paragraphs) telling me #1. Why and when you became a late bloomer #2. What is your passion? #3. Provide me with links where people can go to learn more about you. #4. Photo of you and some of your art.
Email everything to me at smileee0001@gmail.com
When I receive everything I will schedule your date and let you know when it is.
You are right, it will be fun!

Hi Michelle-there was a string of people I did that too. I put too many zeros. Here is the correct email smileee001@gmal.com. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you will allow me to share your story. Please send me an email. If you reply to this message on your site, I will not get it. Thanks,

I’m sorry I missed you when we were there. It sounds like we have much in common. I’m an artist who is retired from public education, enjoying the time to nurture my creativity.
